Which behind the scenes? To who did you talk?
Firstly, I want to ask: would it have made any difference if we had
raised the matter in public again on -devel?

Or if you would directly have addressed us. That happened last in 2019.
And Sean is part of the ftpteam, honestly, I would have expected working
on the inside to - I don't know, maybe - change our point.

I didn't write i got surprised by this GR proposal just for the lolz. :)

Based on your replies here, it seems that ftpmaster's objections are
still just as firm now as they have been over the past four years.
We wouldn't want to keep asking the same question on a list like
-devel, when we are pretty sure the answer will just be the same; that
would be rude to both ftpmaster and the rest of Debian.

Now, *officially* it would have led to an actual ftpmaster position at
least, instead of "merely individual members participating in a
discussion". But then, thats also going down a "processes and
procedures" rabbit hole..., lets don't.

I think we didn't speak to ftpmaster directly about this since 2019.

Ack.

discussions. We didn't see that as helpful, since we saw an
irreconcilable gap between our position and ftpmaster's.

I really wonder if there does exist a middle thing between those two.

*I* am interested in finding it, though I still have to read and process
Russ latest mail (long, as it is :) ). Unfortunately that has to wait
until tomorrow or day after, I did develop something with my eye,
meaning it hurts a *lot* when opened and focusing on things for more
than 2 or so minutes. This *sucks*. Going to see a doc tomorrow.

I would ask you to wait a bit more before continuing with a GR (in the
term of days, not months), at least some time, but do whatever you feel.
