Hello Raphael and *, ############################################################ # ATTENTION: I am currently NOT in Strasbourg because # # haveing the last 4 weeks of my military # # service and can not reply in short delays. # ############################################################ I am new package maintainer and have build over 280 different packages successfuly for my customers since several years. (It's not something which is true of everybody, but it's > certainly true for a significant part of small contributors) I definitivly can not agree with this, since for me it look like a "School", "Education-Center" or "University" where I NEED to learn something to be able to do something. I can not come from the Highschool (12/13 years) to the University (4 years) study IT and then I come to the Debian.-Project and want to be DM/DD. I find the procedure right and the "Mentors" and/or "Advocats" are the Teachers/Professors which help me to get into the new "business" Maintaining and Packing for Debian. I even do not know, whether I want to be DM/DD or not, since all I do can be done by Packagage-Maintainer only. I do not think, I feel better, if I change my <linux4michelle@freenet.de> with an <@debian.org> address. > > 2 Didn't you say that the DM thing is not meant as workaround about > > dificiencies in the NM process? > > I did. IMO the length of the process of the NM is a feature not a bug. I > want DD to be reliable like they are. But if peoples have not enough time (e.g. they can only work 1 hour/week on Debian-Projects) does this mean, she/he is better, then one who is working daily with it (like me) since it is my Jog as Debian GNU/Linux Consultant, while I need to stuck 2 years in the queue and others come in as the like? > > The NM process after all is meant to help new maintainers become > > skilled maintainers of packages. Hmm, but the base would be the same: NM. -- So why not shorten the NM for those WHO have working Packages and push them into DM Thanks, Greetings and nice Day Michelle Konzack Systemadministrator Tamay Dogan Network Debian GNU/Linux Consultant -- Linux-User #280138 with the Linux Counter, http://counter.li.org/ ##################### Debian GNU/Linux Consultant ##################### Michelle Konzack Apt. 917 ICQ #328449886 50, rue de Soultz MSN LinuxMichi 0033/6/61925193 67100 Strasbourg/France IRC #Debian (irc.icq.com)
