I would rather have had the candidates answer the question so I
wouldn't have had to do the best I could. I gave them the longest
time possible. Should I have pre-empted them? I thought it was more
respectful to wait until they had had a fully fair chance to post
their own answer, and my intention was to simply let their words speak
for themselves (as I did for the one candidate who did reply).
If I had posted sooner, I would have been criticized for having failed
to give them an opportunity to answer for themselves.
