Why vote for DPL only?
Hello everyone,
So far, we've been discussing voting for position of the DPL, which
undeniably, is the highest rank -or whatever you wish to call it,
that's not the point i'm trying to make- within Debian.
However, as every past, present and (possibly) future, DPL will
probably tell you, the DPL cannot enforce anyone to do anything, he
can only point to the right direction, influence and motivate people
to do their tasks and perhaps help settle things down when flames go
ablaze :-)
Don't misunderstand me, I don't underestimate the DPL's position, it's
just the structure of Debian is such, that while we argue about
Democracy all the time, I don't think we live by it.
So, what I actually would like to ask the DPL candidates is how they
view a possible proposal of actually using democratic methods for all
key positions within Debian. Just as a DPL has to convince everyone
of his/her worth, why shouldn't the same apply to other (possibly
more important) positions? Debian is not the 50 people team it used
to be.
Yes, I am actually proposing this.
Regards
Konstantinos
