IMHO youtube-dl is a valid and also obvious candidate for volatile.

For me it's close to what has been done to IIRC pidgin and other IM
clients even stable when ICQ changed its protocol.

OTOH I never understood why SA is in volatile. It downloads uptodate
rules from the internet anyway and doesn't get remotely disabled as
the ClamAV folks do.

So since SA has come to volatile and pidgin and other IM clients even
got protocol updates in stable, what speaks against youtube-dl and
clive updates in volatile?
