As you are using Plasma, almost certainly your network is /managed/ by
NetworkManager, so presumably a KDE thing. Switching to manual network
configuration should fix it, but whether that's suited to your work habits, or
laptops generally, is another matter. I'm not a laptop user, so all my networking
is statically configured - no managing that I don't do myself, and it's run by
systemd, so always up if booted at least as far as basic.target and/or network.target:
