Perhaps you used -v / --verbose
'man rsync' says:
In a modern rsync, the -v option is equivalent to the setting of groups
of --info and --debug options
And 'rsync --info=help' says:
Options added at each level of verbosity:
[...]
1) COPY,DEL,FLIST,MISC,NAME,STATS,SYMSAFE
I didnt bother to test but I suspect -i is the same as one of those option
flags, maybe MISC1.
Anyway, thanks, today I learned how to turn off rsync STATS:
--info=STATS0
