Based on Avinash's message a few hours ago, the timestamps line up to
point to the /.cache directory having been created during the late part
of the installation, when lots of packages were being unpacked, installed
and configured in quick succession. These appeared to include Desktop
Environment packages such as libreoffice-help-en-us:all, though I'll
admit I only skimmed through the pastebin data.
My system was installed *without* any Desktop Environment packages, and
I'm not seeing it. I install "Standard" and then apt-get install xorg
and fvwm and so on afterward.
So, it looks like *something* that's brought in by one or more DE
tasks (but not by a Standard installation) might indeed have a bug.
