As long as audio is ignored, HDMI and DVI-[D,I] are typically equivalent
functionally, so common DVI-to-HDMI cables or adapters usually can be counted on
to be superior to any alternative involving VGA. I have a bunch of graphics cards
with only DVI and VGA outputs that I regularly use with several displays' HDMI
inputs, clearly superior to using VGA.
