Re: problem installing trixie

Hi,

I have tried to install trixie, however, I ran into two problems at the very beginning:

.) When I want to boot the computer, the system is not found automatically. I have to go into BIOS for selecting the disk to have it booted. At the installation process I chose manual partitioning and assigned a small partition as fat32 partition at /boot/efi and a bigger one as root partition. Maybe this was not correct? /boot/efi is empty now which probably shouldn't be.

.) When I type, even on the console, there is a delay. Reminding me on working remotely with a not really good connection. Mouse is also crazy, one is super slow, the other one super fast, also with delay.

Can anyone help me? Maybe I should go back to bookworm, maybe the installer works better there? However, when I boot a grml.org stick, it also uses trixie and everything is workin there. I am a bit desperate and under timely pressure to have the computer running.

Thanks in advance,
Flo.

If you want to install Debian quickly and have it operate correctly, use "Stable":

https://www.debian.org/

-> Download

debian-12.11.0-amd64-netinst.iso

Before you install Debian, I suggest:

1. Boot the computer into Setup and reset all the settings to factory defaults. If Setup has a hardware diagnostic test utility, run it. If Setup has the ability to secure erase the drive that you will install Debian onto, secure erase that drive.

2. If your Setup utility does not have secure erase, check the drive manufacturer.

3. If neither Setup nor your manufacturer have secure erase, boot the Debian installer into a rescue shell and zero fill the drive that you want to install Debian onto.
