AFAICT, i did not create any systemd files nor ran a generator or such.
Apart from listing units, i did not interfere ... wait ... i recall
using the systemctl edit command once

So, what likely happened is:
- You had an fstab entry for /tmp
- systemd via systemd-fstab-generator generated a corresponding runtime unit file tmp.mount in /run during boot - You ran systemctl edit --full tmp.mount, which created a persistent copy of tmp.mount in /etc/systemd/system/
