"Could not display mtp://XXXXX" error no such interface 'org.gtk.vfs.mount' on object at path /org/gtk/vfs/mount/1"

Why is it always a pain to mount my Android phone on my Laptop?

I always get "Could not display mtp://XXXXX" error no such interface 'org.gtk.vfs.mount' on object at path /org/gtk/vfs/mount/1"

And, yes, I have read all similar posts, especially on the Ubuntu forums, but I can't figure out what is going on.

Repeated a 100s of times.

So I guess the OS doesn't see the device as an MTP device. The only solution is toggling the USB dialogue on the phone from "Charge only" to "File Transfer" multiple times back and forth until it eventually picks it up as an mtp device.

I have tested this cable with this phone on a brand new PC running Windows 10 and there were no issues.

Any clue?
