My intention was to have both OSs installed and choose which one to boot. From your answers I understand that it may not be safe for both OSs, so the best solution is to have a machine dedicated to Debian.
That sounds like a good solution for trying Debian.I suggest that you create a macOS bootable installer USB flash drive before installing Debian, so that you can reinstall macOS on your MacBook if you so choose:
