I use emacs and followed the steps outlined here: https://gist.github.com/fredRos/0e3a845de95ec654538f then, using C-c C-c v will export and preview the file in the default browser, in my case Firefox. The suggested CSS file is a close approximation of GitHub flavored Markdown.
