More. Memory was often the largest line item back then, and ordinary mainframes couldn't afford much of it. The Cray 2 was a game-changer in the supercomputer space with its 1Gbyte memory capacity. Mostly those were bought by three letter agencies, but some really large corporations and universities with very generous donors got one.
