What is "this" and what is its relation to the OP's original, erroneous
ratiocination (usb = UVC, the latter being a specification to which the
device in question most probably does not comply, an inference that can
be drawn from the fact it will not work without the vendor-provided
driver, whereas the main benefit of UVC compliant peripherals is that
they can all be managed by a single generic driver on Windows, Mac, and
Linux machines).
