Just how old is the old motherboard? What model? Has it a UEFI BIOS?
Just how new is the new motherboard? What model?
I do a relative lot of cloning and moving disks among PCs. By keeping the old HD, there could be
little to do but reconfigure networking for the change in MAC address, if the NIC is a
motherboard component, and if not, nothing to do. Having the extra HD you could safely test by
cloning first and using the clone.
