Your original question seemed to be "what does the 'unknown unknown' at the end of this line mean?", and we've determined that that was based on a false premise; that isn't at the end of the given line, it's a line of its own. We've also figured out what that "line of its own" means, and what the device it's based on probably is. What is it you want to know about the Prolific Technology device? All I can say about it is that it's another example of a "vendor model" line, where the "vendor" appears to be "Prolific Technology, Inc." and the "model" appears to be "PL25A1 Host-Host Bridge". As I've never heard of this device before, and its name would seem to indicate that it's an internal system component that's unlikely to be of much interest unless something related to it is malfunctioning, I'm not sure where you want to go from there. Your original question in this thread didn't have anything to do with a cable, or indeed mention USB at all. I could guess that maybe your system doesn't have a driver that (knows that it) works with the USB3 controller device mentioned above, and that as a result connecting a device to a USB port which is fed by that controller doesn't make it possible for the system to talk to that device.
