Install 9.4 on acer V15 Nitro 4K -> black screen after choosing installation method; Kali live running and Ubuntu installation no problem

Hi Debian Users!

A weird problem. Got a brand new Acer Nitro Black V15 with 4K Display (VN7-593G). [Installed a Nitro Black V15 with full-HD Display successfully two years ago after an initial obstacle of which I do not remember how I solved it.]

Installations from the same 4GB USB-Stick:

Debian : firmware.9.4-netsinst.iso: Grub comes up. Choosing graphical nor textual install -> Black screen no cursor.

Debian : firmware.9.3-netsinst.iso: Grub comes up. Choosing graphical nor textual install -> Black screen no cursor.

Debian : debian-9.4.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso: Grub comes up. Choosing graphical nor textual install -> Black screen no cursor.

Kali Linux : Boots into live mode

Kali Linux : Installation : Black rectangle on screen, stuck, no cursor

Ubuntu 17.10.1 Desktop : Boots into live mode

Ubuntu 17.10.1 Desktop : Installer comes up and installs flawlessly.

For the debian installs I tried the usual :

noapic, nomodeset, vga=ask, vga=771 and tons of other kernel params to no avail.

Any help appreciated

Volker
