Another Devuan annoyance: CLI default apps

Today for the first times since I upgraded my Debian Wheezy to Devuan Jessie, I tried to use crontab; 

in Debian, it opened the file with vi, just as $DEITY had ordered it since the beginning of the world.

Now under Devuan, crontab opens the file with nano, which I hate, abominate, pursue with intense loathing...

How do I get crontab back to using vi ?
