All is nice and well, but... it is not up to debian to decide - this is all
about in what direction gnome and kde are being developed (among
others). If debian wanted to change that then we are talking about doing
development of not only debian but also of kde, gnome, systemd,
 and other various software included in given debian release. We are
talking about serious manpawer here - not something 1000 or so devs
can do in their spare time for free.
