Yes, they do. Tomas' answer was exactly the correct one to your problem.


Not as I read them.
They give methods of handling an explicitly specified device.
Be it specified by LABEL, UUID, or designation in the /dev/sdX hierarchy.

I wish _generic_ handling.
In this use case I _generic_ means "any USB flash device with FAT file system". E.G. when I pick up a flash drive that has information written by my Windows machine I have *NO* a priori knowledge of "LABEL, UUID, or designation in the /dev/sdX hierarchy."

Something missing somewhere :<  PEBSAK ?
