Updated Debian Jessie 8.0 using :-

'couldn't start /boot/efi'
Can anyone help, please ?
You don't need to do both an upgrade and dist-upgrade. Doing the upgrade installs new versions of existing packages while dist-upgrade also will replace packages when a package has been replaced by a different one (e.g. grub2 replaces grub or systemd replaces sysvinit). When dealing with the stable branch the two commands should be identical.

It's unlikely that the successful completion of those commands caused the problems you are experiencing. What else did you you change?
