Yes you have my dear Lady, me included, and many thanks.  But with an 
aged grey hairball of NFS that hasn't had any real TLC in most of a 
decade, I was looking for someone who had been crawling around it its 
plumbing for many a coons age.

But the real cure is to retire that ball of buggy fuzz called NFS and use 
sshfs instead. One of the guys on the TDE list gave me everything I need 
to bring it to life even before x gets started at boot time.  Including 
generating a 2048 bit key and placing it on all the other machines so 
its all passwordless access for the stuff I own on the other machines.

So, for those needing transparent access as if that file lived on your 
own hard drive, for local network file sharing, take a look at sshfs.
