Rake is Ruby's own take on Make [1] -- i.e. a program used to build
other programs.

That's my guess, but I'd think that you can set up several independent
Redmine "sites" on one box. Each of them probably needs an own
database "instance".

Throwing X_DEBIAN_SITEID into your favourite search engine turns
up, among other things, this [2]. The way I read it, it is an
environment variable to help differentiate several Redmine
installations on the same host. So probably Advanced Stuff.

I'm sitting here at Debconf [3], among literally hundreds of Debian
developers, all of them working hard (many of them in their free
time) to give to us this fantastic distribution. I understand your
frustration (I often swear at my computer too, and do even worse
things), but I think the best way forward is to get involved.

Here [4] [5] are more resources which might help (this time I
just fed "debian redmine help" into my favourite search engine).
Here [6] is the mailing list archive for the maintenance of the
Redmine Debian package, you might want to subscribe here [7] if
you want to contact the maintainers directly.

What I wanted to get at: occassional frustration is understandable.
But never forget that Debian is a mainly volunteer project (and
this is exactly what makes it so awesome). Perhaps a scathing
phone call to "user support" is the wrong approach here :-)
