Apparently, in industry lingo, UEFI replaces BIOS, so if you have a UEFI
firmware, you can not have a BIOS firmware too, only possibly a BIOS
emulation.

And your UEFI firmware is probably bogus, because they all are.

That said, your problem can probably be solved.

There a big difference between UEFI booting from removable devices: in that
case, the UEFI firmware guesses the parameters of the bootloader. When
booting from the internal drive, it should be configured to know, not guess.

This is done with the efibootmgr tool. You should first have a careful look
at the output of "efibootmgr -v". It should indicate the various boot menu
entries with their order.
