Boot the installer up to the point where it reads the disks. Do a 'ddif=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=1M' to try to forcibly erase theboot sector and any EFI stuff that might be on the disk. If that fails,then it might come down to some BIOS settings.
