There's a good chance that it is not a bug, so doesn't need reporting.  It 
sounds much more like a fault in the device (device requiring 
amplification/not requiring amplification) recognition of the socket on the 
laptop.  Until proved otherwise, I'd assume hardware in this case, rather 
than software.

I see that Ric thinks the same thing.
