Or just test the fair use clause in their broadband contract with their
ISP. Unless the deal is not unlimited downloads, in which case they may
also be testing their spending limits in excess download fees.

Just because you can install everything doesn't mean you shouldn't
upgrade it.... and that can be expensive.

Consider also that the average "user" is never going to "compare" the
thousands of available packages. Just develop the attention span of a
fruit fly and end up "trying" half of nine different things, (none of
them properly) like the end result of multi-booting various OS magnified.
