So you can copy/backup/move disks and partitions without worrying about whether you can get access to the result in the future? Because you don't want to trust or rely on whatever black box lives inside the disk? I'm not the OP, but that's the reason I use Linux software encryption rather than that built into the SSD. -- Tixy
