So, if i understood correctly, apt reports the correct information, taking care of possible overrides by FTP master. Instead dpkg reports the original intention of the packager but might not reflect the real situation.

Said with other words, if you want to obtain, for example, the list of installed packages that have standard priority on you system, using dpkg for this can bring to wrong results. You have to use apt-based tool. Is it correct?
