Well, multiarch is still new and aptitude's dependency resolution might 
not cope with it. At this point (and given you confirmed in the other 
mail that amd64 is your default architecture) I'd probably start looking 
at what i386 packages are installed and why.

I don't have much experience with multiarch, but I'd say it's probably a 
good idea to install as few foreign architecture packages as possible.
