You initially asked how to install Firefox alongside Iceweasel, in the
hopes that (a current version of) Firefox would not have the problem.

That seems to indicate that you thought the problem might be with
Iceweasel, or at least with older versions of Firefox.

But if the problem also manifests in (some versions of) Chrome, then it
can't be specific to Iceweasel or to older Firefox like that...

Fair enough. It's still odd that it works for me just fine with
Iceweasel 24.5.
