No. The ability to boot from LVM (understand : have /boot on LVM) has
nothing to do with the initramfs but with the bootloader only.
The initramfs is only required when userspace action is required in
order to mount the *root* filesystem. So you can have /boot on LVM (with
a compatible bootloader) and / on a standard partition, without the need
for an initramfs.
