Could you give a few examples? I installed Wheezy without DE and
then MATE from "deb http:
//repo.mate-desktop.org/debian wheezy main"
No problems/conflicts so far (well, none due to MATE).
The DE that is the closest to GNOME 2, regarding to all aspects,
work-flow, "interaction" with other software, stability, needed
resources, IMO is Xfce 4
I just can't get over the fact that I can't drag things from
applications menu to quick launch panel. It's painful :(
