USB progress "choppy" (USB3?)

hi,

on jessie/testing with a 3.10-2-amd64 kernel, copy operations (using
GNOME/KDE/cp) to a USB2 stick are reported as no (0 bytes/time)
progress, then much progress, then 0 progress and so on.

While it reports 0 progress, the LED on the stick flashes so it does
make progress (and eventually the copy operation is complete).

Here is the /var/log/messages output:

-------------------------------------------

There is no output during the copy operation(s).

Note that this is a USB3 mainboard and most probably a USB3 port.

The same usb port with the same stick works normally under Windows7.

Thanks and Best Regards,
