how to turn on compositing in metacity (using Debian testing) ?
Hi all,
How do I turn on compositing in Metacity in GNOME 3?
I am in GNOME Classic or GNOME-Fallback using GNOME testing.
This is my integrated graphics card :-
$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 10)
I am using metacity as my window manager as can be seen via :-
$ ps aux | grep metacity
shirish 3543 0.0 0.6 476668 13556 ? Sl 09:36 0:00
/usr/bin/metacity
shirish 5517 0.0 0.0 8056 912 pts/0 S+ 09:52 0:00 grep
--color=auto metacity
This also confirms it :-
$ pstree -s 3575
init───gdm3───gdm-simple-slav───gdm-session-wor───gnome-session───metacity───{metacity}
Is there a GUI way to enable compositing in GNOME classic or the only
way is via
dconf write /org/gnome/metacity/compositing-manager true
gsettings set org.gnome.metacity compositing-manager true
As shared in http://glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Recurrents%20problems&lang=en#2-Composite
Both of them are true :-
$dconf read /org/gnome/metacity/compositing-manager
true
$gsettings get org.gnome.metacity compositing-manager
true
I tried using gnome-control-center --overview but it doesn't show
Window manager and its effects :(
Using gnome-control-center 1:3.4.3.1-5+b3 .
I do not know if compiz fusion is installed and working or not ?
Looking forward to pointers regarding enabling compositing in gnome 3.
