Hi, What do you mean by "old debian menu"? Debian's menu or gnome 2 menu? As far as I can tell, debian menu is pretty much the same since etch. If gnome 2 menu is what you strive for, mate or cinnamon would probably give you less headache than using gnome 3 in classic mode.
