Yes, you have. Luckily (at least in the U.S.) we have a free market, so you have choices available to you. You don't have to buy the crippleware, you have other options. And the most important thing that we, as free software/fair use advocates, can do, is force the large corporations to back down through economic means. They won't sell it if we don't buy it.You have no lost any semblance of control over your own hardware.
