sudo is one option, the other is to use upower (which runs as system
daemon with root privileges) and use a command like this


$ dbus-send --print-reply \
            --system \
            --dest=org.freedesktop.UPower \
            /org/freedesktop/UPower \
            org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend
