Re: what causes these apt-get/aptitude errors?

I've been encountering these errors persistently for about the last week
too. I usually do echo $? to check the error level after any aptitude
operation now. I think ftp.us.debian.org has been designated a primary
server and if I understand the mirrors stuff on debian.org correctly
primary mirrors are only to be used to push files to other secondary
mirrors. If that's the case, terciary downloaders like ourselves would
be blocked from primary mirrors and would be serviced by one of the
secondary mirrors. These errors also happened for me with
mirrors.kernel.org after a few downloads so I've moved along to another
mirror site. So far I just got one download from that site but I expect
to have to move on again before too much longer. It could be the
netselect and mirrormon packages may be of some use to us now and in the
future.
