Hi
the problem I had with the on board ATI HD4250 was about every 10 secs the screen would break up as if
it was trying to change resolution, it was slow, running video caused it to crash and causes X to crash.
Any boxes that are shown when you hover the mouse over a box were trapezoid, with the text wrapped
across the diagonal split.
BTW I don't have users & groups in either fallback or normal gnome shell. If I knew what that app was
called maybe I could find it.

I now have a Nvidia card installed and in the process of running it with proprietary driver, so that
gnome-shell comes out of fall back mode.

Fingers crossed
