system menu gone on wheezy+gnome 2

system menu is gone on both of my machines
after last week update. this bug seems to me
so absurd that i don't even know how to deal
with it. both apps and places menu are
unaffected. i can't change it with menu editor anyway. 

same problem anyone? any clues?
