I wonder if it would be sensible for Debian to create a dummy xorg.conf file that just said something like: # By default, X.org autodetects hardware so configuration is usually # not necessary. If, however, you need to override the autodetection, # you can add the relevant Sections to this file. That way, all the documentation on the internet that says "add this to your xorg.conf" should still make sense to newbies. -- Darac Marjal
