Re: About alien command

Your mail is not clear, but if you need to install an rpm package in a debian box, which I've done, this are the steps to follow

1.- install alien:
        aptitude install alien
2.- Convert alien package to debian package
        alien -d drivers-8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm
        alien -d fglrx64_4_3_0 and 8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm

3.- dpkg -i output_packages.deb

Have fun!!!

I havent use ATI Cards, since NVIDIA has a better support and for longer time, so original drivers in .deb are availables, but may be it would pay back looking a bit more for those drivers in .deb.

Ceers,
         Carlos

Hi

It may be a silly question but I'm following occurs ago
some time trying to install an ATI R200 BB [Radeon All in
Wonder 8500DV], I got the drivers-8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm fglrx64_4_3_0 and
8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm fglrx64_6_8_0, but as I have to use Debian Squeeze
change. deb

When I write alien-8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm fglrx64_6_8_0 generates me
file. deb

but where it gets??

If I give alien-i-8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm fglrx64_6_8_0 to install me
fails, then I am forced to create the package. deb but
I find no way.

Cosme
