That ^^ looks good (and normal)

That ^^ doesn't - either it's a coincidence, or it may be the problem.

I've seen this in two situations:-
; older kernel loading uhci and ehci in the wrong sequence - temporarily
solved by unloading those modules and reloading in various orders until
fixed. Permanently fixed by upgrading to the latest kernel for the
Debian release
; legacy USB device support turned on in (some) BIOS.

It appears that a (your 3G device) USB device is being reset...

Try plugging in your device, waiting until "dmesg | tail"
shows the modem has been detected and the /dev/ttyUSB* nodes have been
corrected - then:-
# cat /dev/ttyUSB0
You should get some chatter about signal quality etc - it you get
"device not found" (or similar - I'm going from memory) then the problem
is the usb module being unloaded (conflicting modules).

You might also try another USB port.

Which prompts me to ask (again) - which *Debian* release are you running
there?? :-)

Also - who is your ISP, what make and model is your modem, and is it a
prepaid plan?
