Well, on the thread "Re: xorg configuration" i got the hint to change to 16bit color depth without using xorg.conf. Now, i cannot reach the virtual resolution to put each screen on each monitor, that is 1440x900 and 1920x1080 . All I get is 1920x1920, the external monitor is not on the right of the laptop monitor, there is one over the other. I have both screen on both monitors, which is quite problematic. Is there any way to tell X to use a virtual resolution of 3360x1080 (1920+1440 x 1080) without using xorg.conf ? I run Xorg -configure and i have a large and messy xorg.conf which i'mtrying to avoid . I run : xrandr --newmode "1440x900_60.00" 106.50 1440 1528 1672 1904 900 903 909 934 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode LVDS 1440x900_60.00 xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode VGA-0 1920x1080_60.00 xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1920x1080_60.00 xrandr --output VGA-0 --right-of LVDS last command gives : xrandr: screen cannot be larger than 1920x1920 (desired size 3360x1080) Regards, Pablo Sánchez.
