If possible, tie rsync to rsnapshot to provide hardlinked daily,
weekly, or monthly snapshots. It's incredibly useful to be able to go
back and get the file you *know* you had yesterday or last week.

Johann? All the work of your scripting, and more useful sophisticaton,
is built right into the "rsnapshot" tool.  I urge you to check it out
for a supported tool that does just what you need.
