I used to have all my posts echoed and wondered why now they are not.
Is such echoing controlled at my end (I am using icedove) or at the list
end?

It is a gmail policy not to echo my mail. I have set icedove to
put my sent mail back to the appropriate folder. Myabe
enigmail.mozdev.org does the same.

Just a guess Ken.

Maybe I misunderstood Ken's meaning of "echo". Tbird/Icedove will store a copy of each sent message wherever you tell it to store them. Look in Edit->"Account Settings"->(account-name)->"Copies & Folders"

That has nothing to do, though, with whether lists.debian.org does what mailing lists do: sends you a copy of all list messages regardless of whether or not you wrote it.
