I don't quite see how this is done. I looked into the Gnome manual and it 
says something about turning the icons on. The thing is it says it's done 
under Appearance -> Interface Preferences, but I don't have any such tab 
under Appearance -- on neither of the computers. Perhaps I'm lacking some 
package then?
